Trust Your Intuition, It Knows Best
What is Intuition?
Your intuition may come as a simple thought, a feeling or maybe a bodily sensation. Your intuition is simply your all-knowing higher self, guiding you to your highest good. How many times have you done something that backfired and after you recovered, you said to yourself, “I just knew it was not going to work”? We’ve all done this on many occasions.
My Personal Experience
This is what happened to me. I was driving to an important meeting at Yonge and Sheppard in Toronto during morning traffic. I was on Yonge Street already heading south towards Sheppard Avenue. The traffic was stop and go. I was getting nervous because I knew I was going to be very late. I then had a thought in my head that said, “Go to Bathurst Street”. But my logical mind said, “That’s crazy. Why would I drive all the way to Bathurst Street, which is approximately 3 kilometers west of where I needed to be only to drive back another 3 kilometers east ”? So I ignored the thought. Traffic was inching along and the time was wasting away. I decided I was going to be smarter than the rest of the drivers and turned right onto the next residential street. I drove south as far as I thought was appropriate, and because I did not know this area well; I felt I needed to get back onto Yonge Street, believing that I would have made great headway out of the slow traffic. I was shocked to find that I ended up at exactly the same place I began!
So I turned around and went back into the residential area, doing the same thing and thought this time I drove further south and headed back towards Yonge Street. I could not believe it! I was back at the exact same spot again! I was getting really anxious and knew that I had lost a lot of valuable time. I turned back into the same area and drove what I thought was even further before heading back to Yonge Street. And, wait for it, Yep! I ended up at the exact same spot for the third time!
I could not believe this could happen to anyone. I started to get angry, as now I was aware that I only had 10 minutes to get to the meeting. I stopped the car, banged my hands on the steering wheel and shouted to the universe, “OK, What’s My Lesson?!!”
Lesson Learned
In my anxiety to arrive on time, I had forgotten that every time we are blocked, it is the universe’s way of saying, “Pay attention”. So I calmed myself down and just sat for a minute. Then the thought came back and told me to go to Bathurst Street. At this point I listened and surrendered to my intuition. I headed towards Bathurst Street. The roads were clear. I drove down Bathurst Street far enough to turn towards my meeting on Yonge Street. It took me all of ten minutes to reach my destination.
If I had only listened the first time, I would have arrived early. But because of my ego getting in the way, I was ten minutes late. I then understood the Universe, always wanting what is best for me, was trying to get me to pay attention to my intuition.
Our Intuition knows best. It always does. The problem is that we ignore it and allow our egos to control our actions. If we can learn to listen from the first time, our lives would be so much calmer, happier and on point.
I have learned to listen to mine. Even when the thought seems random, crazy, or illogical but positive, I will listen and do it anyway. My intuition has proven over and over again that it knows what’s best for me and I trust it. You can learn to listen and trust your intuition as well.
4 Tips to understand your Intuition:
1-If you think about a decision and your body suddenly feels fidgety or anxious, this is your intuition telling you that it may not be the best decision.
2-Intuitive thoughts are always positive and come from the Divine light. If you have negative thoughts, these come from fear (which is your ego) and not your intuition. Do not listen to them.
3-When the thought seems random. It may be that you are not thinking of anything at the moment and then a thought appears to guide you to do something or go somewhere that seems illogical. As long as it’s positive, trust it is your intuition.
4-A thought may appear and you feel that you just know it to be true. You may not know how you know it, but you just know!
